Every uppercase letter becomes lowercase and every lowercase letter becomes uppercase; digits, spaces and punctuation are left alone. Swap twice and you have your original text back — with one exception: German ß has no single uppercase letter, so it becomes SS and cannot swap back.

What is a Invert Case Converter?

Invert Case Converter swaps the case of every letter in your text: uppercase letters become lowercase and lowercase letters become uppercase. It's the quick fix for text typed with Caps Lock on by accident. It runs entirely in your browser, so your text stays private, and you can copy or download the result.

Ever typed a whole sentence with Caps Lock on, so it came out 'iNVERTED' — capitals where you wanted lowercase and vice versa? Inverting the case fixes it in one click instead of retyping.

This tool swaps every letter's case and runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Paste, invert, and copy.

When swapping case helps

The classic use is rescuing text typed with Caps Lock accidentally engaged, which produces exactly inverted capitalization — 'tHE qUICK' instead of 'The Quick'. One swap puts every letter back where it belongs. Because inverting is its own reverse, running it twice returns the original text, so you can experiment freely. The tool changes only letters; numbers, punctuation, and spacing are untouched, and accented letters swap correctly too. Everything runs locally in your browser, so it's instant and private. If you instead want everything in one direction, use the Uppercase or Lowercase converter, or the all-in-one Case Converter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does inverting the case do?

It swaps each letter's case: every uppercase letter becomes lowercase and every lowercase letter becomes uppercase. So 'Hello World' becomes 'hELLO wORLD'. Numbers, punctuation, and spaces are left unchanged — only the letters flip.

How does this fix accidental Caps Lock?

When you type with Caps Lock on, the capitalization comes out exactly reversed — capitals where you meant lowercase and lowercase where you meant capitals. Inverting the case swaps it all back in one click, so you don't have to retype the text.

If I invert twice, do I get the original back?

Yes. Inverting case is its own opposite, so applying it twice returns your text to exactly how it started. That means you can safely try it and undo it just by running it again, or use the original still sitting in the box.

Does it change numbers or punctuation?

No. Only letters are affected. Numbers, symbols, punctuation, spaces, and line breaks all stay exactly as they were — inverting case simply flips uppercase and lowercase letters and leaves everything else alone.

Does it work with accented letters?

Yes. Accented and non-English letters swap case correctly too — for instance é becomes É and vice versa. For everyday text in most languages, the inverted result is exactly what you'd expect.

How is this different from uppercase or lowercase tools?

Uppercase and lowercase push every letter in one direction. Inverting case swaps each letter individually, keeping the mix but reversing it. Use invert to fix reversed capitalization; use the Uppercase or Lowercase converter when you want all one case.

Is my text private — is anything uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so whatever you type or paste is processed on your own device and never uploaded to a server. Nothing is stored once you close the tab. That keeps your text — notes, code, documents, lists — completely private.

Is it free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes, it's completely free with no account, no trial, and no limit on how many times you use it. Because it runs entirely in your browser, there are no server costs, no usage caps, and no watermark or branding added to your text.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in your phone's browser with nothing to install, so you can use it on Android or iOS. The layout adapts to small screens, so you can paste text, get the result, and copy it on the go just as easily as on a computer.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, it runs entirely on your device, so it keeps working without a connection — which is also why nothing is uploaded. You only need to be online to open the page the first time; after that the tool works locally.

Can I copy or download the result?

Yes. You can copy the result to your clipboard with one click, and longer output can be downloaded as a text file. Everything is processed locally, so copying and downloading are instant with no upload step and no waiting.

Is there a limit on how much text I can process?

There's no artificial cap, because the work happens on your device rather than a server. The practical limit is your device's memory, so very large inputs are smoother on a computer than an older phone. For most everyday text, processing is effectively instant.
