Brand or protect a PDF with a watermark

Add Watermark to PDF stamps a text or logo watermark across a PDF in your browser. Choose the text or upload an image, set the opacity, rotation, and position (including a tiled pattern), pick the pages, and download. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

Pick the Text tab to type your phrase and set the font size and colour, or the Image tab to upload a logo (a transparent PNG looks cleanest). Then shape how it appears: an Opacity slider makes it a subtle, see-through overlay so the content underneath stays readable; Rotation angles it (the classic −45° diagonal is the default); and Position places it Center, in a corner, or as a repeating Tile across the whole page. You can also drag the watermark on the preview to a custom spot.

Two controls add real flexibility. Layer puts the mark Over Content for a bold stamp or Behind Content so the text reads on top of a faint background mark. Apply To targets All Pages, just the current one, or a Custom Range like "1-5, 8" — handy for leaving a cover or signature page clean.

Step 1: Upload your PDF

Step 4: Target pages and layer

Use Apply To (All, Current, or a custom range) and Layer (Over or Behind Content).

Step 5: Download

Realistic example. You're sending a draft contract. On the Text tab type "CONFIDENTIAL", set opacity to about 0.3, rotation to −45°, Position to Tile, Apply To All Pages, Layer Over Content, and download — a clearly marked document that's still readable.

Advanced tip. For a logo that doesn't sit in an ugly box, use a transparent PNG and drop the opacity to 30–40% so the page content shows through cleanly.

Common mistake to avoid. Putting a dark, opaque watermark Over Content can hide the text — lower the opacity or switch to Behind Content for readability.
