What is a Magnetic Field Converter?
Magnetic Field Converter turns any magnetic flux density between tesla, gauss, and their prefixed forms. One tesla is 10,000 gauss, exactly, by definition. Enter a value, pick your units, and the result appears with that factor shown. It runs on your device and works offline.
Two unit systems split this measurement, and almost every conversion people need is a bridge between them. The SI unit is the tesla (T), used in physics papers, MRI specifications, and safety standards. The older CGS unit is the gauss (G), still standard among magnet manufacturers, geophysicists, and anyone holding a gaussmeter. The relationship is fixed: 1 T = 10,000 G. That is a definition rather than a measurement, because the gauss was defined as one ten-thousandth of a tesla, so the number never drifts and never needs a tolerance.
Most real fields are far smaller than a tesla, which is why the prefixed units matter more than the base ones. Earth's magnetic field runs about 25 to 65 microtesla depending on latitude, or 0.25 to 0.65 gauss. A fridge magnet is around 5 millitesla, so 50 gauss. A clinical MRI scanner runs at 1.5 or 3 tesla, which is 15,000 or 30,000 gauss. Domestic EMF meters report in milligauss, while the exposure standards they get compared against are written in microtesla — and 1 mG is 0.1 µT, so a 200 µT reference level is 2,000 mG.
The unit list runs from femtotesla to kilogauss for a reason. Magnetoencephalography reads brain signals near 10 femtotesla, twelve orders of magnitude below an MRI bore. One converter has to span all of it.
One thing this tool will not do: convert oersted or amperes per metre. Those measure magnetic field strength, written H, while tesla and gauss measure flux density, written B. The two are related by B = µ₀·µr·H, so the answer depends on what the field is passing through. In a vacuum one oersted corresponds to one gauss, which is exactly why the mistake is so common. Put iron in the path and the ratio changes by a factor of thousands. Everything here is local, offline, and uploaded nowhere.
